Use galvanized screws, screws at the top and bottom of the open door cladding. Hide the screws below the sealing strips or the bottom riser. Place screws at angles in each corner of the side panels, top and bottom. Caulk all screw heads to prevent them from rusting or leaking. Install the outer trim using a hammer and nail or screws to secure it to the wall around the edge of the door frame. Caulk any holes and all around the outer edge of the trim. A quick and easy use of silicone caulk will prevent water siphoning and eventually rot and water damage.
